Fishbowl North Sydney – Commercial Grind & Seal

This commercial flooring project for Fishbowl North Sydney involved the preparation and grind and seal of approximately 80 m² of concrete flooring as part of the restaurant fitout.

With the site located on the main street in North Sydney, access was extremely restricted. Careful planning was required to move our grinding equipment, dust extraction and materials in and out of the tenancy while coordinating our works around the shopfitters' construction programme.

The concrete was mechanically ground to remove surface imperfections and create a clean, consistent finish. Following the initial grinding stages, a grout pass was completed across the floor to fill pinholes, minor cracks and small surface imperfections within the concrete before the final preparation stages.

The floor was then protected using a 100% solids polyurethane sealing system, selected specifically for the demands of a busy hospitality environment.

A grind and seal finish provided the ideal balance of appearance and performance for the space, offering a durable, low-maintenance and chemically resistant surface, while the selected sealing system was suitable for use within the food-service environment.

The result is a hard-wearing polished concrete appearance that complements the restaurant fitout while providing the practical performance required for a high-traffic commercial space.
